Universal Pictures continues to thrive in its relationship with Will Packer and his Will Packer Productions, having already had big hits with the comedies Ride Along, The Best Man Holiday and last year’s Girl’s Trip. They’re now teaming-up again for the new Gabrielle Union thriller , which looks like another strong thriller from Packer.

Universal Pictures just release the first trailer for the movie coming out on May 11, just in time for Mother’s Day, which makes sense once you know the film’s plot.

Union play s a woman whose two children are being held hostage inside a house that’s been designed to be impenetrable, but she’ll do anything to save them.

The movie is directed by frequent Wachowskis collaborator James McTeigue (V for Vendetta) from a by Ryan Engle, who also wrote this week’s The Commuter and its thematic predecessor Non-Stop.

Breaking In  is produced by Packer and Union, along with Will Packer Productions’ James Lopez and Craig Perry and Sheila Taylor from Practical Pictures (the Final Destination series). James Primak Sullivan (on whose story the screenplay is based upon) is an exec. along with Valerie Bleth Sharp  and Jeff Morrone.

Billy Burke, Richard Cabral, Seth Carr and Ajiona Alexus from Empire co-star with Union.

I’ll admit that I haven’t seen many of Packer’s previous thrillers Obsessed and No Good Deed, but this looks like a great vehicle for Union (a on the film) who previously appeared in the Packer-produced Almost Christmas. It’s also exciting to see Final Destination  Craig Perry involved as well as James McTeiguei directing, since that helps insure (in my opinion) a higher quality of film.

Universal and Packer’s next movie together is the comedy Night School, starring  Kevin Hart and Tiffany Haddish, which is released on Sept. 28. That’s also directed by Girls Trip‘s Malcolm D. Lee.

You can watch the first trailer below.
