Gael García Bernal Stepping Behind The Camera For “Mozart In The Jungle” Season 3 (EXCLUSIVE)

Gael García Bernal is set to direct his first episode of the Amazon series in which he stars, . García Bernal won a Golden Globe for his performance on the show while the series itself took home the Golden Globe for Best Television earlier this year. García Bernal directs the third season finale.

The series, developed by executive Roman Coppola, Jason Schwartzman, Alex Timbers, and Paul Weitz, is inspired by oboist Blair Tindall’s memoir Mozart in the Jungle: Sex, Drugs, and Classical Music. Season 3 will continue the story of García Bernal’s character Rodrigo, the brilliant young conductor of the New York Symphony, as he and several of the musicians featured in the show to Europe.

García Bernal’s previous credits as a director include the drama Deficit and the experimental film Revolucion, and he is  currently attached to direct the black comedy feature Chicuarotes. García Bernal heads up Canana , which is currently producing the remake of the 2012 Mexican film Miss Bala at Sony Pictures. He will next be seen on the big screen in the biopic Neruda.

Mozart in the Jungle held its TCA panel this week, where the cast and creators promoted the December 9th release date of the third season on Amazon Prime.
