ABC’s second Marvel series INHUMANS has cast its lead actor. Iwan Rheon, formerly of Game of Thrones where he played Ramsay Snow, has signed on to play Maximus in the upcoming series about Black Bolt and the Inhuman Royal Family.
The eight-episode series chronicles the untold story of Black Bolt and Medusa, the king and queen of Attilan and the Inhumans. Rheon will play Maximus, a prominent citizen of Attilan and brother to the king, shows strong pride in his city but also longs to rule in favor of his brother.
Inhumans were introduced in Marvel Comics in 1965 and tell the story of a race of superhumans who each have a distinct ability thanks to a substance known as Terrigen Mist. Throughout the race there are a wide variety of abilities, similar to Marvel’s other group of heroes, the X-Men. Most recently in the comics, a Terrigen Bomb detonated and created a new faction of Inhumans, called “NuHumans,” including Kamala Khan aka the current Ms. Marvel.
Dexter writer Scott Buck will write and executive produce the series and serve as showrunner. Death Race 2 director Roel Reine will direct the first two hours, which will be screened at over 1000 IMAX theaters over Labor Day weekend for a two week run before extended episodes air on ABC at the start of its fall season launch.
Rheon is represented by UTA, Curtis Brown Group in the U.K., and Principal Entertainment LA.
