Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams is among a slew of actors who have joined director Haifaa Al-Mansour’s English language debut, A STORM IN THE STARS. Tom Sturridge, Stephen Dillane, and Joanne Froggatt have also been added to the cast as production gets underway in Ireland before moving to Luxembourg next week. They join set cast Elle Fanning, Douglas Booth, Bel Powley and Ben Hardy.
The romantic period piece revolves around the tumultuous love affair between the dangerously charismatic poet Percy Shelley (Hardy) and the brilliant, beautiful Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin (Fanning). It is at the estate of Lord Byron (Sturridge) that the idea for Shelly’s novel Frankenstein is born when the guests participate in a ghost story writing contest.
The dramatization of the love affair between the two writers was scripted byEmma Jensen. Alan Moloney and Ruth Coady from Parallel Films are set to produce alongside Amy Baer of Gidden Media. Joanne Burstein and Rebecca Miller have been tapped as exec producers.
Williams is best known for her role as Arya Stark and Dillane for his role as Stannis Baratheon on HBO’s Game of Thrones.
