After finding success with The Raid, director Gareth Evans has found his next project with the period thriller APOSTLE. Evans will take on writing and directing duties, with the feature looking at a March 2017 production start.
The story centers around a mysterious man who travels to a remote island in search of his missing sister. He attempts to rescue her after she’s kidnapped by a religious cult, which is demanding a ransom for her return. But it soon becomes clear that the cult will regret the day it baited this man, who digs deeper and deeper into the secrets and lies upon which the commune is built.
The project reunites Evans with XYZ films, who produced and handled international sales on The Raid, and will do so again for Apostle. They produce alongside Severn Screen and Evans’s One More One Productions. XYZ will present the project to buyers at AFM.
In addition to The Raid, Evans also wrote and directed its sequel which was released in 2014. He is also attached to Blister from MRC.
