Based on Eidos Interactive’s 2007 video game “Kane & Lynch”, the film follows Adam ‘Kane’ Marcus and James Lynch, two men headed for death row. Their fates are changed when a mysterious group of mobsters known as The 7 force Kane and Lynch to find their stolen money. The role Butler is in talks for is that of Kane.
Gray is helming from a script originally adapted by Kyle Ward and Bob DeRosa, but was rewritten by Rock Shaink Jr. and Jieho Lee. “A Good Day to Die Hard” scribe Skip Woods is last known person to have rewritten the script. Adrian Askarieh, Daniel Alter, Avi Lerner, Bill Horberg, Stephen J. Eads and Joe Gatta are producing. Howard Sun is co-producing while Michael Paseornek executive proudces. John Sacchi and Christine Crow are overseeing the project for Lionsgate and Nu Image/Millennium respectively.
If Butler does jump aboard, it will mark a reteaming of him and Gray, as they both worked together on the 2009 film “Law Abiding Citizen.” Butler was last seen in Antoine Fuqua’s “Olympus Has Fallen” and Gabriele Muccino’s “Playing For Keeps.” He’ll next be heard voicing Stoick the Vast in “How to Train Your Dragon 2” while producing “The Septembers of Shiraz” and appearing in Simon West’s “Thunder Run.”
Butler is repped by CAA.
