Giancarlo Esposito has joined the cast of the Jodie Foster directed thriller MONEY MONSTER.
He will star alongside of George Clooney and Julia Roberts in the story involving a television stock tip announcer, played by Clooney, that gets taken hostage by a gunman. The gunman threatens to kill the announcer if the camera’s are turned off, allowing the entire nation to see the events that play out.
The script was acquired by Tri-Star in 2014, and was a highly sought after deal that year.
Esposito is set to play the NYPD officer that is put in charge of the hostage situation.
He is known for his roles in The Usual Suspects and The Maze Runner, and will be seen in the upcoming sequel The Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials. He is set to voice Akela in the upcoming animated remake of The Jungle Book.
Esposito is repped by ICM and Thruline Entertainment.
