Greta Gerwig has been tapped to star opposite Natalie Portman in the Jackie Kennedy drama, JACKIE. Gerwig is set to play one of the former First Lady’s aids, while Peter Sarsgaard, who just joined the cast this week, will star as Robert Kennedy.
The film will follow the days immediately following the assassination of President John F. Kennedy from Jackie Kennedy’s point-of-view. Jackie will of course be portrayed by Portman.
Pablo Larrain is directing the film, while Darren Aronofsky produces under his Protozoa Pictures banner with partner Scott Franklin. Juan de Dios Larrain of Chile’s Fabula will also produce.
Gerwig most recently co-wrote and starred in Noah Baumbach’s Mistress America. Up next she’ll star in Sony’s rom-com Maggie’s Plan, which co-stars Julianne Moore and Ethan Hawke. Gerwig will also appear with Annette Benning in 20th Century Women.
