One of the Sept. festival movies that is already receiving quite a bit of acclaim is ’s directorial debut , starring Saoirse Ronan as the title character.  It premiered over the weekend at the Telluride and Venice Film Festivals, and will kick-off the Toronto Film Festival on Thursday.

A24 will release Lady Bird on Nov. 10, but they’ve shared their first trailer for the movie, which you can watch below.

Ronan’s Christine “Lady Bird” McPherson is a teenager living in Sacramento, who is trying to keep her family together after her father (Tracy Letts) loses his , while at the same time trying to find herself.

Her strong-willed mother is played by Laurie Metcalf from Roseanne and The Big Ban Theory, and it also stars Timothée Chalamet (Call Me By Your Name), Odeya Rush, Danielle Macdonald from Patti Cake$ and more.

The trailer makes the movie look a little like Mike Mills’ 20th Century Women, in which Gerwig played a key role, and which A24 released last year.

Being that this one is set in 2002 Sacramento, one presumes it will be more autobiographical about Gerwig’s experiences when she was the same age as the character in her film.
