Gugu Mbatha-Raw is set to star opposite Will Smith in the UNTITLED RIDLEY SCOTT SPORTS CONCUSSIONS PROJECT. The sports drama stars Smith as a doctor who explores the effects concussions are having on sports players and the league owners who stand by while it happens. Albert Brooks and Alec Baldwin also star in the project, which is being produced by Ridley Scott, Giannina Facio, and Michael Schaefer.
Mbatha-Raw is known best in her native England for her stints on TV series like “Spooks” and “Doctor Who” and in the States as the lead in the indie drama “Belle.” She also recently starred in Gina Prince-Bythewood’s drama “Beyond the Lights” opposite Nate Parker, Danny Glover, and Minnie Driver. Her upcoming roles in thriller “The Whole Truth” and action/sci-fi “Jupiter Ascending” are a departure from her usual dramatic fare.
