Hailee Steinfeld is in talks to star in a coming-of-age drama for STX Entertainment. Previously titled BESTIES, the script made the 2011 Hit List and will be directed by writer Kelly Fremon Craig and produced by Academy Award-winner James L. Brooks.
The story centers on the quirky relationship between two life-long best friends that becomes threatened when one begins dating the other’s older brother. The film will mark Fremon Craig’s directorial debut.
Steinfeld was recently seen in Universal’s Pitch Perfect 2 alongside Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson and has signed on for the third installment in the franchise. Her Sundance drama 10,000 Saints will be released later this month.
Next up for the recently formed STX is thriller The Gift with Jason Bateman and Rebecca Hall and remake of a 2009 Argentine film, Secret In Their Eyes, starring Chiwetel Ejiofor, Julia Roberts, and Nicole Kidman.
Steinfeld is repped by CAA.
