Split star Haley Lu Richardson and Moises Arias (The Kings of Summer) are set to join Cole Sprouse (Riverdale) in Justin Baldoni’s romantic drama FIVE FEET APART, it was announced Thursday by CBS Films.
Mikki Daughty (The Children) and Tobias Iaconis (Sleep Tight) wrote the script, which tells the story of Stella (Richardson) and Will (Sprouse), two young people in love who refuse to be defined by the obstacles that separate them, including a big one — they’re forbidden to touch. Arias will co-star as Poe, Stella’s lifelong best friend.
Baldoni is producing the film with Cathy Schulman, who previously worked with Richardson on The Edge of Seventeen. CBS Films executive Mark Ross will oversee the project for the studio, and production is slated to start next month.
“I’m thrilled Haley and Moises have joined our film. I have been a fan of Haley’s for years, and she is a tremendous talent who will shine in this role. Haley, Cole and Moises will do an incredible job bringing these dynamic characters to life,” said Baldoni, an actor on Jane the Virgin who has directed an episode of that show in addition to several short films.
Richardson, who recently starred in the critically acclaimed drama Columbus, is represented by the Gersh Agency and 3 Arts Entertainment, while Arias is repped by Matt Fletcher at KMR & Associates and attorney Derek Kroeger.
