“Handmaid’s Tale” Star Elisabeth Moss Joins Melissa McCarthy, Tiffany Haddish in “The Kitchen”

Newly-crowned Emmy winner has landed the third and final lead in New Line’s crime drama alongside Melissa McCarthy and Tiffany Haddish, the Tracking Board has confirmed.

Andrea Berloff (Straight Outta Compton) is directing from her own screenplay, which is based on the DC/Vertigo comic book series of the same name from Ollie Masters and Ming Doyle.

Set during the ’70s in Hell’s Kitchen, the story finds the FBI arresting several members of the Irish mob, leaving their wives to take over the illicit business — by any means necessary.

Michael De Luca is producing The Kitchen, which is set to open on Sept. 20, 2019.

Best known for her star-making turn on Mad Men, which earned her six Emmy nominations, Moss is coming off the first season of Hulu’s acclaimed drama The Handmaid’s Tale, which won her both an Emmy and a Golden Globe. The show will soon return for its second season. On the big screen, Moss recently starred in the Oscar-nominated foreign film The Square, and she’ll next be seen alongside Annette Bening and Saoirse Ronan in The Seagull.
