HBO Targets Bill Hader Hitman Comedy “Barry” For Series Order



The comedy BARRY has been picked up to go to series by HBO. The half-hour pilot marked the directorial debut of the Saturday Night Live alum. Hader also co-wrote the show with Silicon Valley‘s Alex Berg. Both will serve as executive producers of the show.

Barry centers on a former Marine who becomes a hitman in the Midwest. He’s dissatisfied with his life and lonely so he hesitantly moves to for hit and ends up finding an unlikely group of friends in the LA. theater scene.

The series also stars Henry Winkler, Stephen Root, Sarah Goldberg, Anthony Carrigan, and Glenn Fishler.

Barry joins a new slate of comedies which includes Judd Apatow and Pete Holmes’s Crashing, Divorce with Sarah Jessica Parker, and Insecure with Issa Rae.

Hader can be appears next in Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping and Steven Spielberg’s The BFG. He also lends a voice to the forthcoming family-friendly Finding Dory as well as the R-rated animated feature Sausage Party.
