SUNDAYS, the visually stunning and masterful short film from Dutch commercials director Mischa Rozema is making waves. The project was written and directed by Rozema and serves as a proof-of-concept pitch for a feature, which is being developed by Chernin Entertainment. Out from Circle of Confusion and UTA, and produced by PostPanic Pictures, the short has made quite a stir, with studios anxious to snatch up the in-demand property.
I’m now hearing that Peter Chernin of Chernin Entertainment brought the project into Fox with a take on a feature adaptation. I’m also hearing that Chernin took it to Warner Bros. as well. I’ve also received word that Sony made an offer with Original Film‘s Neal H. Moritz.
Rozema is attached to direct the feature version of Sundays, with Chernin Entertainment producing. Jairo Alvarado at Circle of Confusion and UTA’s Michael Sheresky, Ramses IsHak, and Milana Rabkin rep Rozema.
The fourteen-minute short boasts some incredibly gorgeous and visceral images, working as blend of live-action and CGI. The short stars U.S. actor Brian Petsos and Mexican actress Sofia Sisniega.
