“Heatseekers” Closes In On Timur Bekmambetov

Love him or hate him director has been tapped to direct for Paramount Pictures. Paramount bought the script for a reported six-figures in 2010, but it’s been stalling out ever since. No more! New blood, perhaps new life.

The story follows a young ex-military pilot who infiltrates a gang of sky “pirates” working out of Bangkok, only to find himself taking part in an elaborate aerial tower heist using powered gliders and parachutes.

Producing will be Michael “If it can explode it’s beautiful” Bay, Andrew Form, Brad Fuller and Chris Morgan.

Bekmambetov, known to American’s mostly for “Wanted” and “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter”, brought us the absurd (yet wonderful) russian fantasy movies “Night Watch” and “Day Watch”. His upcoming slate is cluttered with about a dozen projects, which includes “Wanted 2”, “The Current War” and “Moby Dick”.
