Helen Mirren and Aaron Paul are set to star in EYE IN THE SKY opposite Colin Firth. The thriller follows a group of characters impacted by the decision to drop a drone missile on a house in East Africa. The mission escalates from a “capture” to a “kill” operation when the commanding officer realizes the terrorists are planning a deadly suicide mission but when a young girl enters the kill zone, they have to decide how much collateral damage is too much. Mirren will play Colonel Michelle Madden, a military intelligence officer in command and Paul will play Steve Watts, an American drone pilot.
Mirren is known for her Oscar winning turn as Queen Elizabeth in “The Queen” but also for her roles in “RED” and Fox Searchlight’s biopic “Hitchcock.” Her upcoming projects include the Lasse Hallström drama “The Hundred-Foot Journey” and Jay Roach’s biopic “Trumbo” where she’ll star opposite Bryan Cranston as Dalton Trumbo, a Hollywood screenwriter who was blacklisted for alleged Communist activities.
Paul got his breakout role as junkie turned meth cook Jesse Pinkman in AMC’s “Breaking Bad” and has since gone on to star as Tobey Marshall in “Need for Speed.” Next up for Paul are roles in dramedy “A Long Way Down” with Toni Colette and Pierce Brosnan as well as starring roles in “Triple Nine” with Kate Winslet and Ridley Scott’s religious drama “Exodus: Gods and Kings” with Christian Bale playing Moses.
