The Jay Roach helmed biopic TRUMBO looks to nab Helen Mirren to star opposite Bryan Cranston. The film tells the true story of famed American screenwriter, Dalton Trumbo, one of the blacklisted Hollywood Ten who was banished from working in Hollywood but still won two Academy Awards while writing under a pseudonym. If Mirren signs on, she’ll play Trumbo’s wife Cleo.
Mirren is well respected for her portrayals of real people, having played Alma Reville in “Hitchcock,” Sophia Tolstaya in “The Last Station,” and Queen Elizabeth in “The Queen.” Mirren is currently working on two dramas, “The Woman in Gold,” about a Jewish refugee trying to recover her stolen art, and “Deadlocked,” about a doctor trying to solve the death of her daughter, a journalist in Gaza City.
Mirren is repped by CAA.
