Hell or High Water scribe Taylor Sheridan has been tapped by Sony Pictures and Escape Artists to write DISORDER, a remake of a 2015 French thriller written by Alice Winocour and Jean Stephane Bron and directed by Winocour.
The original film stars Matthias Schoenaerts as a French Special Forces soldier just back from Afghanistan, who is suffering from PTSD. He is hired to ensure the security of the wife of a rich Lebanese businessman at their luxurious villa “Maryland.” As he starts experiencing a strange fascination for the woman he has to protect, he increasingly seems to fall into paranoia – unless he is right, and the danger is very real indeed.
Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, and Tony Shaw are producing for Escape Artists with Steve Tisch. David Beaubaire is overseeing for Sony.
Sheridan, who also scripted the critically acclaimed 2015 thriller Sicario, has been receiving early Oscar buzz for his work on the Hell or High Water screenplay – a film that ranks as one of the most positively reviewed of the year thus far. He is currently writing the sequel to Sicario, Soldado, for Lionsgate. He recently wrapped on his directorial debut from a script he wrote, Wind River. Sheridan is also adapting Dark Invasion, a WWI spy novel from Howard Blum that has Bradley Cooper attached to star.
No additional talent attachments have been announced at this point.
Sheridan is repped by Gersh and Elevate Entertainment.
