The Manson murders continue to be a point of interest in Hollywood as Hilary Duff lands the starring role of late actress Sharon Tate in the psychological horror film THE HAUNTING OF SHARON TATE from Skyline Entertainment.
Quentin Tarantino’s untitled Manson picture will also feature Tate as a character, with the main focus being on the crazed cult leader.
Tate was an actress best known for her work in Valley of the Dolls and was married to filmmaker Roman Polanski. In 1969 she was brutally stabbed to death at the hands of Charles Manson’s followers, in what later became known as the Manson Murders. Tate and Polanski’s unborn son was also murdered as she was pregnant and due to give birth in just two more weeks. Before being stabbed she yelled out “Please don’t kill me. I just want to have my baby.” before being tortured, stabbed 16 times, and then slaughtered. The cult members then used her blood to write “PIG” on the outside door.
The Haunting in Connecticut helmer Daniel Farrans will write and direct the film that takes a look at the last days leading up to Tate’s murder from her perspective. In an interview published a year before her death, she reveals having dreams about ghosts haunting her house and foreseeing her own death at the hands of a satanic cult.
Duff was most recently seen on the critically acclaimed TV series Younger as Kelsey Peters, which has been renewed for a fifth season. She is represented by United Talent Agency.
