Three new names have appeared on the radar for the already star-studded cast of biopic THE BUTLER. Terrence Howard, Matthew McConaughey and Alan Rickman are all in talks to join the the Lee Daniels-helmed project in undisclosed roles (though Rickman is rumored to be tapped for Ronald Reagan). The trio would be joining Oprah Winfrey, Forest Whitaker, Jane Fonda and Liam Neeson, among others.
The pic is the true story of White House butler Eugene Allen, based on a Washington Post article by Wil Haygood. Allen served eight presidents from 1952 through his retirement in 1986. The script was penned by Danny Strong and rewritten by Daniels, best known for directing the critically acclaimed “Precious”. His thriller “The Paperboy”, which stars McConaughey, recently wrapped.
Rickman has just finished shooting the upcoming Coen Brothers pic “Gambit” with Colin Firth and Cameron Diaz, while Howard is in talks to play Thurgood Marshall in the upcoming drama “The Crusaders”.
