VACATION FRIENDS has added Ice Cube to lead the feature comedy from 20th Century Fox. Chris Pratt and Anna Farris were previously set to star. Ice Cube is taking over Pratt’s role with no word on the new female lead.
The film centers on a straight-laced couple on vacation in Mexico who befriend another couple and have a wild time. When the vacation is over they return to their normal lives, but the vacation couple suddenly shows up, disrupting their lives, and not with the same kind of fun from vacation.
The script was penned by Tom Mullen and Tim Mullen and will be directed by Steve Pink. Todd Garner of Broken Road Pictures is producing.
Cube had a massive hit with this summer’s Straight Outta Compton which is being pushed for awards season recognition. He will next be seen in next years Ride Along 2 and Barbershop 3. A new take on the classic A Christmas Carol is in development as a starring vehicle for Cube with Tim Story to direct and Jeff Kwatinetz and Garner producing. Cube is also in development with Universal on Rocky Mountain High with Kwatinetz producing with Beau Flynn.
