Ike Barinholtz and Dave Stassen are set to pen the script for New Line’s reboot of POLICE ACADEMY. Based on the 1984 film, the comedy follows a group of misfits who enlist in the police academy and embark on a series of hilarious adventures. Keegan Key and Jordan Peele are producing along with Paul Maslansky. The original film stars Steve Guttenberg and Kim Cattrall.
Barinholtz got his start writing and acting on “MADtv” before going on to roles on “Eastbound & Down” and “The Mindy Project,” which he also writes for. Barinholtz is penning the script for Rawson Marshall Thurber’s comedy “Central Intelligence,” which stars Ed Helms as an accountant who gets caught up in the world of espionage. Stassen is also a writer and co-producer for “The Mindy Project” and will also be penning the script for “Central Intelligence.”
Barinholtz and Stassen are repped by UTA and Principato-Young Entertainment.
