Alice Eve has joined the cast of IRON FIST for Season 2, Tracking Board has confirmed.
“We are very excited to have an actress of Alice’s stature join the cast of ‘Marvel’s Iron Fist,’” said Marvel TV boss and series executive producer Jeph Loeb. “Her exceptional talent brings an intrigue and danger to her character unlike anyone else.”
Eve’s role is being kept under wraps, as is most plot details for the second season of Iron Fist, since The Defenders left the fate of the titular hero (Finn Jones) up in the air.
Jessica Henwick (Colleen Wing), Tom Pelphrey (Ward Meachum), Jessica Stroup (Joy Meachum), and Sacha Dhawan (Davos) are all returning for the second season, which has a new showrunner in Sleepy Hollow alum Raven Metzner, replacing Scott Buck.
Loeb previously told Tracking Board Buck’s departure was not due to any creative issues Marvel and Netflix had with the show, despite some middling reviews and criticism of the first season.
Loeb likened the change to when a new comic book writer takes over on a title.
“When you look at something like Daredevil, which is easily accessible, if you ask people what’s your favorite Daredevil story? They go, well I’m a Frank Miller fan, or I’m a Brian Michael Bendis fan or I’m an Ed Brubaker fan,” he said. “Writers have come in and told their particular view of what that character could be. It was Frank who really looked at it and went, maybe he’s not a happy-go-lucky, plucky acrobat who’s running around, like a more mature version of Spider-Man. Maybe it’s a crime drama. And he changed the tone of that book. And then Bendis, he’s a crime writer, he took that and went to the next level. It’s not that we want the audience to get whiplash. It really does need to feel like this is the next chapter of what’s going to happen to Danny Rand and we’re really looking forward to it.”
There’s no word yet on when Iron Fist Season 2 will air, though Jones will reprise the role of Danny Rand on Season 2 of Luke Cage, also premiering at some point in 2018.
Eve is represented by CAA, Untitled Entertainment, and Independent Talent Group in the UK.
