Maika Monroe, Timothee Chalamet, and Alex Roe have joined the coming-of-age drama HOT SUMMER NIGHTS. Written by Elijah Bynum, the script was featured on both the 2014 Hit List and Black List. Imperative Entertainment picked up the indie, which centers on a teenager whose life spirals after he befriends the town rebel, falls in love, and gets tangled up in the town’s drug ring, all during one humid, stormy summer. Bynum will also be making his directorial debut, with production expected to begin this August.
Monroe turned heads with her performance in the successful indie horror It Follows, which took cinemas by storm this past spring. She’ll next appear in Fox’s packed sequel Independence Day: Resurgence, helmed by Roland Emmerich. She’s repped by WME and Luber Roklin Entertainment.
Rising star Chalamet burst onto the scene with roles in Jason Reitman’s Men, Women & Children and Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar. Up next, he’ll star with Lily Rabe in the indie comedy Miss Stevens. He’s repped by UTA.
Roe is set to appear opposite Chlöe Grace Moretz in Sony’s action/sci-fi The 5th Wave and alongside Big Bang Theory‘s Johnny Galecki in Paramount’s horror sequel Rings. WME and Luber Roklin Entertainment rep him.
The news was first reported by Deadline.
