Well, it’s finally official – the cast has been set for J.J. Abrams’ STAR WARS: EPISODE VII. There’s a good mix of returning talent and fresh faces so let’s dive right in!
Those reprising their roles in the franchise are Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill and Peter Mayhew as well as Anthony Daniels as C-3PO and Kenny Baker as R2D2.
As for the newcomers, there are names you’ll recognize and those you won’t. Andy Serkis, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver and Domhnall Gleeson join the old crew. Writer/director Serkis is known for his roles in “Lord of the Rings” and “Rise of the Planet of the Apes.” Isaac and Driver both had starring roles in “Inside Llewyn Davis” but you might recognize Driver from his turn on HBO’s “Girls.” Gleeson is the British actor who got his start on the latter two “Harry Potter” films but has since starred in “About Time” opposite Rachel McAdams.
The cast is rounded out by John Boyega, Max Von Sydow and Daisy Ridley. Boyega appeared on the sci-fi drama “Becoming Human” and will next appear in “24: Live Another Day.” Von Sydow is the Oscar nominated actor known for his roles in “Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close” and “Minority Report.” Ridley is the newbie of the group and will star in the horror flick “Scrawl.”
No word yet on who the newcomers will be playing so let the speculation begin!
Serkis is repped by CAA and Principal Entertainment, Isaac is with UTA and Inspire Entertainment, Driver is with Gersh, Gleeson is at Paradigm and The Agency. Boyega is repped by CAA and Management 360, Von Sydow is with Diamond Management, Ridley is with Jonathan Awn Talent.
