Oscar-winning actor, J.K. Simmons has signed on to star in THE BACHELORS. The film was written by Kurt Voelker, who is taking on directing duties as well. Fortitude International will be handling foreign rights as it launches the sale at the American Film Market. Gersh will handle North American rights.
Matthew Baer and George Parra are producing. Jennifer Kelly is executive producing.
Simmons plays a man dealing with the aftermath of losing his wife. He and his teenage son move to a big city in an attempt to get a fresh start. They both find comfort and newfound romance while growing apart, and eventually back together, while discover their true selves in the process.
Simmons is currently filming Bastards opposite Owen Wilson, Ed Helms, and Jessica Gomes, and will next be seen in The Meddler for Sony with Susan Sarandon and The Accountant with Ben Affleck and Anna Kendrick.
Voelker previously wrote Sweet November and made his directing debut with Park, starring William Baldwin, which he wrote as well.
Simmons and Voelker are both repped by Gersh, with Voelker managed by Circle of Confusion.
