It’s been announced that actor/singer/funnyman Jack Black will make a special appearance at this year’s Oscars. This will mark his third appearance at the award ceremony.
“Jack Black is a complete original comic voice and we’re beyond thrilled that he has agreed to join the Oscars show in a very special sequence” says Oscar producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron.
Black starred in the comedy School of Rock, about a wannabe rock star in need of cash who poses as a substitute teacher at a prep school and tries to turn his young class into a rock band. He is also the voice of Po in the Kung Fu Panda franchise. His other acting credits include King Kong, The Holiday, and Nacho Libre. He will next be seen in the big screen adaptation of R.L. Stine’s classic young horror series Goosebumps.
Outside of feature films, Black, with Kyle Glass, is half of the comedy band Tenacious D, which they formed in 1994.
Black is repped by WME.
The 87th Annual Academy Awards, hosted by Neil Patrick Harris, will be broadcast live on Sunday, February 22, at 7pm EST/4pm PST on ABC.
