Jack Lowden has won the role of Steven Patrick Morrissey, the enigmatic frontman for the Smiths, in the biopic STEVEN. The script was co-written by William Thacker and the film’s director, Mark Gill.
HanWay Films will handle sales while Entertainment One has UK rights. Honlodge Productions is producing. The film is expected to begin principle photography in April.
Lowden is best known for 2013’s Ghosts, which earned the actor an Olivier Award. More recently he appeared in BBC’s War and Peace miniseries and he is currently in talks for a major role in Christopher Nolan’s WWII drama Dunkirk.
He is repped by Conway van Gelder Grant and UTA.
