Jacki Weaver will star in James Franco’s ZEROVILLE. The dramedy follows a 24-year-old student who arrives in Hollywood in 1969 with dreams of breaking into the movie business, which is in the midst of a seismic shift as the decline of studios gives way to the rise of independent directors. Weaver has been cast as Dotty, a film editor who befriends Franco’s character. Franco will direct and produce the project, which is adapted from the 2007 novel written by Steve Erikson.
Although Weaver has been acting for years, her career has recently had a resurgence after her roles in Silver Linings Playbook, The Five-Year Engagement, and Parkland. She recently starred in Woody Allen’s Magic in the Moonlight and also plays the creepy dog walker Susan Wright on Fox’s Gracepoint. Weaver’s upcoming projects include sci-fi drama Equals, which stars Nicholas Hoult and Kristen Stewart, as well as the CBS comedy The McCarthys.
Weaver is repped by ICM and Elevate Entertainment.
