Jackie Earle Haley and Bella Heathcote are in talks for Warner Bros.’ DARK SHADOWS. Based on the 1960’s TV series created by Dan Curtis, the story follows Barnabas Collins, a vampire, who lives in an isolated manor house in the sleepy seaboard town of Collinsport, Maine. Haley would play Willie Loomis, a drifter and con artist who becomes an unwelcome houseguest. Heatcote would play Victoria Winters, the young governess of the New England mansion. Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter are already attached to star.
Tim Burton will direct from a screenplay by Seth Grahame-Smith and John August. GK Films (Graham King), Infinitum Nihil (Johnny Depp and Christi Dembrowski) and Dan Curtis Productions (David Kennedy) to produce.
“Dark Shadows” was a gothic soap opera that originally aired weekdays on the ABC television network, from June 27, 1966 to April 2, 1971. Regarded as a camp classic, the series featured many supernatural creatures throughout its run, including werewolves, ghosts, zombies, man-made monsters, witches and warlocks, but it was not until the introduction of vampire Barnabas Collins, played by Jonathan Frid, a year into its run that made the show hugely popular.
Haley is repped by CAA and Leslie Allan-Rice Management. Heathcote is repped by JM Agency and Jackson-Medavoy Entertainment.
