Room star Jacob Tremblay is circling a role in WONDER at Lionsgate. The film is an adaptation of the coming-of-age-novel of the same name by R.J. Palacio.
Tremblay is in talks to play the story’s main character, Auggie Pullman, a young boy with a facial deformity that is bullied at school. The studio is eyeing Julia Roberts to play the role of his mother.
Paul King is attached to direct the adaptation while John August, Jack Thorne, and Steve Conrad have written drafts of the script. Todd Lieberman and David Hoberman at Mandeville Films will serve as producers.
Tremblay can be seen next in the Mike Flanagan horror, Before I Wake and the thriller Shut In opposite Naomi Watts. He will join Watts again in the drama The Book of Henry and will star opposite Vera Farmiga in Burn Your Maps, which will both be released this year.
He is repped by UTA.
