Jaime King Lands Female Lead in Sylvester Stallone’s “Escape Plan 2” (Exclusive)

Sin City star and Hart of Dixie alum has landed the female lead alongside Sylvester Stallone in , the Tracking Board has exclusively learned. Her deal isn’t quite closed yet, but she’s in negotiations to join the action-packed sequel.

Steven C. Miller will direct Escape Plan 2 for Emmett/Furla/Oasis, whose original 2013 film grossed $137 million worldwide.

wrote the first film and has returned to write the sequel, which will see Stallone reprise his role as security expert Ray Breslin. Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy) recently signed on to co-star in the film, for which plot details are being kept behind bars. Production is slated to start this spring in Atlanta.

Escape Plan 2 will be a Chinese co-production that will be distributed in China by . The company also released the first film in China, where it grossed nearly $41 million.

A representative for Beijing-based Leomus told the Hollywood Reporter on Feb. 1 that “[Arnold] Schwarzenegger’s return is still under discussion” and that Escape Plan 2 is expected to feature some Chinese story elements to deepen its local resonance.

EFO founders Randall Emmett and George Furla will return to produce alongside Mark Canton, Zack Schiller, Robbie Brenner and Leomus CEO Jie Qiu. Ted Fox, Mark Stewart, Barry Brooker and Stan Wertlieb will serve as executive producers along with The Fyzz Facility’s Wayne Marc Godfrey and Robert Jones.

Best known for starring in the Sin City movies and being a fashion luminary, King will soon be seen alongside Jason Ritter in Marianna Palka’s buzzy indie movie Bitch. Her other feature credits include husband Kyle Newman’s Fanboys and Frank Miller’s The Spirit. She’s represented by , manager Oren Segal at and attorney Bob Myman.

King wished her director a “Happy Birthday” earlier this week on Twitter, which is all the proof you really need that they’ll be working together on Escape Plan 2, right?
