Jake Gyllenhaal To Star In Video Game Movie “Tom Clancy’s The Division”



Ubisoft, the team behind the Assassin’s Creed, is developing their next feature based on a video game with TOM CLANCY’S THE DIVISION. is set to star and produce the project. 

Based on the popular video game that is set in a dystopian New York City in the aftermath of a smallpox pandemic. The player, who is an agent of the Strategic Homeland Division, commonly referred to as simply “The Division,” is tasked with helping to rebuild the Division’s operations in Manhattan, investigating the nature of the outbreak and combating criminal activity in its wake. 

The game was developed and published by Ubisoft with Red Storm Entertainment for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. It reportedly reach $330 million in sales in the first five days of its release. 

Ubisoft is packaging the feature before taking it out to studios. Their feature, Assassin’s Creed, starring Michael Fassbender is in post-. They also have Splinter Cell with Tom Hardy set up at Paramount. 

Gyllenhaal has a slew of projects in the work with his company Nine Stories Productions including Jo Nesbo novel adaptation The Son, an untitled anthology series that looks at American cults, and Stronger following the events of the Boston Marathon bombing. He was most recently seen in front of the camera in Demolition and Everest, and will next be seen in Tom Ford’s Nocturnal Animals opposite Amy Adams.
