Jake Szymanski is in talks to direct MIKE AND DAVE NEED WEDDING DATES. The comedy, based on a pitch by Andrew Cohen and Brendan O’Brien, centers on two brothers who turn to the personals in search of wedding dates but when their plus-ones show up, but they turn out to be bigger messes than the brothers. Even more hilariously, the project is based on the true story of brothers Mike and Dave Stangle. Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, and David Ready are producing for Chernin Entertainment, while Daria Cercek is overseeing for Fox 2000.
Szymanski, a frequent Funny or Die collaborator, has also worked as a director on “SNL” and “Tosh.0.” He is currently attached to helm “The Social Life,” a Gary Sanchez Productions comedy starring Rebel Wilson and Amanda Seyfried.
Szymanski is repped by CAA and Mosaic.
