Penelope Cruz will reportedly play the next ‘bond girl’ opposite Daniel Craig in the UNTITLED JAMES BOND 24 PROJECT. This news drops on the heels of Sam Mendes and the producers playing out a ‘will they/won’t they’ courting routine perfected by Robert Downy Jr. and Marvel. But I digress.
No word on any of the other crucial details (plot/setting/characters) so you’ll have to stay satiated with this bit of news. And considering it’s Penelope Cruz this shouldn’t be a problem. Others are making a big deal of her being the oldest bond girl, but this doesn’t really mean anything. She’s a great actress who also happens to still be damn attractive for her age. You can probably argue that only the surface details matter for a bond girl and that’s why the focus is shifted there, but I like to imagine she was chosen for more than her looks.
Producing will be Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli. John Logan also returns as the main writer this go around, at least for now.
In the states, Cruz was last seen in Woody Allen’s “To Rome with Love”. She’ll next be seen in Ridley Scott/Cormac McCarthy’s “The Counselor”.
She is repped by CAA.
