James Franco hasn’t let his recent woes after being called out by the #TimesUp movement affect his prolific film output, as he has a new sci-fi thriller called FUTURE WORLD coming out sometime soon, and Lionsgate Premiere has released the first trailer. (Note: We now have the OFFICIAL trailer for the film, as the previous trailer wasn’t cleared for release.)
Co-starring Suki Waterhouse, Milla Jovovich, Lucy Liu and Snoop Dogg, Franco co-directed the film with Bruce Thierry Cheung, and it’s impossible to ignore the obvious influences of George Miller’s Mad Max Fury Road on the movie, which looks like it could be a sequel.
The plot synopsis is: “A young boy searches a future world wasteland for a rumored cure for his dying mother.”
Future World also shouldn’t be confused with the 1976 sci-fi film Futureworld, which was a sequel to the 1973 movie version of Westworld.
