James Russo joins Johnny Depp in the Whitey Bulger drama BLACK MASS. The crime drama, centering on the FBI corruption and the savage New England mob scene involving James “Whitey” Bulger, marks the fourth project Russo and Depp have appeared in together. The other projects include “Donnie Brasco,” “The Ninth Gate,” and “Public Enemies.” Russo is set to play FBI agent Scott Garriola, the agent who brought Bulger to justice. Joel Edgerton will star as another FBI agent, John Connolly, while Benedict Cumberbatch plays Whitey’s brother Billy Bulger and Sienna Miller is cast as Bulger’s girlfriend Catherine Greig.
Russo had a recurring role as Anthony ‘Red’ Cervelli on the CBS drama “Vegas” and also appeared in “Django Unchained” and “Beverly Hills Cop.” Russo must have an authoritative look about him – he’s also set to appear as FBI agents in “American Justice” and thriller “Terrorist.”
Russo is repped by Mavrick Artists Agency.
