STX Entertainment and the Jim Henson Company may have found their lead for THE HAPPYTIME MURDERS as Jamie Foxx is in early negotiations to join the film. The film is a hybrid of live-action and puppets.
Brian Henson is set to direct the film which takes place in a world where humans and puppets coexist, with the puppets viewed as second-class citizens. Someone is killing off the former puppet cast of an 80’s TV series, and it’s up to one disgraced LAPD detective-turned-private eye puppet, Phil, to kick his drinking habit and reteam with his former human partner to solve the case. Foxx would play Detective Edwards, the former partner with a “good cop” persona and therefore constantly at odds with Phil.
Foxx was last seen on the big screen in Annie and Horrible Bosses 2. He will next star in the thriller Sleepless Night and is set to play Little John in Robin Hood: Origins.
Foxx is repped by CAA.
