Jared Harris has snatched up a leading role in the upcoming POLTERGEIST (whether you want it or not it’s coming) remake. Rosemarie DeWitt is already attached with no word if Sam Rockwell is still being courted. As for Harris, he will play Carrigan, “a larger than life TV personality who left the world of academia behind to become the star host of a basic cable show called Haunted House Cleaners.” Seems more like a “Fright Night” or a “Beetlejuice” than a “Poltergeist” but we’ll see how it pans out.
David Lindsay-Abaire (“Oz the Great and Powerful”) is writing the most current draft for Gil Kenan (“Monster House”, “City of Ember “) to direct. Producing will be Roy Lee, Doug Davison, Sam Raimi and Nathan Kahane.
Harris is a solid character actor through and through. Most people probably know him for his work on AMC’s “Mad Men” but he’s also had memorable roles in “Fringe,” Spielberg’s “Lincoln” and Fincher’s “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.” He’ll be reunited with Paul W.S. Anderson in “Pompeii” and he’ll also turn up in “The Quiet Ones.”
He is repped by Paradigm.
