Jared Leto Could Replace Will Smith in “Brilliance”

Jared Leto is in talks to replace Will Smith in BRILLIANCE. The sci-fi thriller is set in a world where one percent of children are born savants with special powers (called “brilliants”). A federal agent uses his skills to become a master terrorist hunter, pursuing a savant terrorist who intends to ignite a civil war. Leto would co-star with “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” star Noomi Rapace. Smith dropped out of the project after committing to a Ridley Scott-produced project about concussions in the NFL.

Leto made waves recently after starring as the transgender Rayon in “Dallas Buyers Club” but hasn’t committed to a role since then. It has been rumored that Leto will play Doctor Strange in the upcoming Marvel project of the same name but nothing has been confirmed on that front. He’s known best for his roles in “Fight Club,” “Panic Room,” and “Requiem for a Dream.”

Leto is repped by CAA and Untitled Entertainment.
