Jason Schwartzman and Cherry Jones are boarding Amy Poehler’s feature directorial debut WINE COUNTRY, the Tracking Board has confirmed. They join previously announced cast members Tina Fey, Maya Rudolph, Emily Spivey, Rachel Dratch, Ana Gasteyer, and Paula Pell.
The Netflix comedy, written by Spivey and Liz Cackowski follows longtime friends who head to Napa for the weekend to celebrate a friends 50th birthday. Production is currently underway in Los Angeles and will end in Napa.
Schwartzman and Poehler previously worked together on NBC’s Parks and Recreation where Schwartzman played Dennis Lerpiss, a flailing video store owner who the Pawnee town bails out, only to see the guy transform his retail into a porn video rental store. They also appeared together in Netflix’s Wet Hot American Summer.
Jones’ credits include Signs, The Village, and The Perfect Storm. She won a Primetime Emmy for her supporting drama turn on 24 in 2009. Schwartzman and Jones are represented by WME.
The project is produced by Poehler’s Paper Kite Productions with Poehler also serving as producer. Morgan Sackett (Parks and Rec) will produce through Dunshire Production and Carla Hacken under her Paper Pictures label.
