Warner Bros. has offered Javier Bardem the villainous role of Blackbeard in their origin film PAN.
The film centers on an orphan (who we can assume turns out to be Peter Pan) who is taken to Neverland where he leads the natives in a rebellion against the pirates. Bardem’s Blackbeard would serve as the pirates’ leader.
Greg Berlanti is producing with Joe Wright in talks to direct.
Villainous roles are right up Bardem’s alley considering his performances in “No Country for Old Men” and “Skyfall.” He can currently be seen in Ridley Scott’s “The Counselor” and will next be seen in “The Gunman.”
