Jeff Bridges Returns To Dramas With “The Emperor’s Children”

is set to star in THE EMPEROR’S CHILDREN. Adapted from Claire Messud’s best-selling novel, the story follows a legendary journalist and liberal opinion-maker named Murray Thwaite, who becomes entangled with his daughter’s best friend, all in the days leading up to 9/11. The drama is set in New York, with Bridges starring as Thwaite.

Imagine Entertainment is developing and producing, with Imagine’s Brian Grazer, Ron Howard and Erica Huggins serving as . Anna Culp will executive produce.

UTA and CAA will be repping the film rights and Lake Bell will direct the adaptation.

Noah Baumbach and Scott Cooper were both previously attached to direct while Keira Knightley, Eric Bana, Richard Gere, and Michelle Williams were all previously attached to star.

For the past few years, Bridges has steered clear of dramatic roles, opting instead for roles in fantasy and sci-fi.

His recent credits include The Giver, RIPD, and the YA fantasy Seventh Son, which is currently in theaters.

The Oscar-winner will next lend his voice to the animated fantasy The Little Prince.
