The inciting incident to Lyndon Baines Johnson’s presidency was the tragedy of John F. Kennedy’s assassination. Jeffrey Donovan has stepped up to play the president who was shot in a Dallas motorcade. As reported before, since this week has been a bit of a casting barrage for this film, Rob Reiner is directing a script by 2014 Black Lister Joey Hartstone, and previously announced cast members include Jennifer Jason Leigh, Woody Harrelson, Bill Pullman, Michael Stahl-David, Kim Allen, Richard Jenkins and more.
The film follows the presidency of LBJ, from his tragic start as vice president to JFK to the start of the Vietnam War. The position was always something that Johnson dreamed of, but his legacy was something that he could have never imagined.
Donovan is probably most well-known for his successful show on USA, Burn Notice, and he will be seen next in the hotly anticipated film, Sicario. On a side note, this will be his second time playing a Kennedy, with his first in J. Edgar as Robert Kennedy. He is repped by WME.
