After spending many years working as an executive at Escape Artists and later, Miramax, Jenna Block has joined Verve as an agent in its motion picture literary department, the Tracking Board has learned.

Block is a well-respected industry veteran who paid her dues at Escape Artists, where she worked her way up from assistant to VP. In fact, she’s still in business with Escape Artists, as she’ll remain a producer on Aaron Sorkin’s Lucille Ball biopic Lucy and Desi, which has Cate Blanchett attached to star.

Block’s outside-the-box hiring makes her the 20th agent at Verve, one of the few agencies that hasn’t been dragged into Hollywood’s sexual harassment scandal. She’s well known in development circles for having good taste in material, a strong sense of story, and a good work ethic. I predict this will ultimately be a smart decision that will pay off in the long run for Verve.

“Jenna’s addition to our team is emblematic of our approach to constantly asking how best to service our clients. Who better than someone who has spent a decade focused on the evolution of story and character,” the Verve partners said in a joint statement to THR, which broke the news.
