Jennifer Lawrence and director Francis Lawrence will work together again on THE DIVE. Produced by James Cameron, the film follows the true story of free-divers Francisco “Pipin” Ferraras and his wife Audrey Mestre, who competed to swim as deep underwater as possible only on a single breath of air. Jennifer will portray Mestre, who tragically died during an attempt to overcome her own world record of 557.7 feet. Francis will direct the film, with a script from J. Michael Straczynski.
The Lawrences have worked together on The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and the two-part finale Mockingjay.
Jennifer most recently starred in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, Serena, and X-Men: Days of Future Past. She’ll next work with David O. Russell again for Joy, as well as reprising her role as Mystique in X-Men: Apocalypse. The Oscar-winning actress will also star in The Ends of the Earth and East of Eden.
Aside from directing the last three installments of the Hunger Games franchise, Francis has helmed Water for Elephants, I Am Legend and Constantine. He’ll next direct Sgt. Rock, The Last Duel, Seashore, and Samson. He’ll also write and direct Survivor.
