Brendan Gleeson and Jeremy Irons have signed on for ASSASSIN’S CREED with Michael Fassbender. The Justin Kurzel film was written by Bill Collage and Adam Cooper. Jean-Julien Baronnet is producing with Patrick Crowley, Jean de Rivieres, Conor McCaughan, and Arnon Milchen alongside Frank Marshall and Michael Fassbender.
The film is based on the hugely popular video game series from Ubisoft. It follows Callum Lynch (Fassbender), who becomes a master assassin by exploring the memories of his ancestor and gaining the skills he learned from an ancient, secret society.
It’s hard to tell whether Irons and Gleeson will play friends or enemies of Fassbender’s character, as both actors have played such memorable bad guys and such endearing good guys. Irons is of course at the top of the list for villains with Scar from Lion King and Simon Gruber from Die Hard with a Vengeance, but he is also playing Alfred in the upcoming Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Gleeson was a heartbreaking character in 28 Days Later, who did the right thing when he became infected in order to save his daughter, but he plays a pretty entertaining jerk as evidenced in his role in Gangs of New York. Good or bad, these actors are going to be a great addition to the already fantastic cast.
Irons is repped by CAA.
Gleeson is repped by The Agency and Principal Entertainment LA.
