The Weinstein Co. is in negotiations to nab the North American rights to the Taylor Sheridan-directed drama WIND RIVER. The film stars Marvel Cinematic Universe denizens Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen of Captain America: Civil War as well as Jon Bernthal from Daredevil.
Renner leads the film as Cory, a Fish and Game Department employee who stumbles upon the raped body of a teenage girl frozen in the woods. A rookie FBI agent unfamiliar with the terrain enlists Cory to help her find those responsible.
Basil Iwanyk’s Thunder Road, Peter Berg’s Film 44, and Matthew George’s Savvy Media Holdings are financing alongside Wayne Rogers’s Synergics Films and Acacia Entertainment. Star Thrower Entertainment, Riverstone Pictures, and The Fyzz Facility will executive produce.
The Weinstein Co. recently picked up the Iwanyk-produced Hotel Mumbai. TWC recently released the Sundance hit, Sing Street.
Renner can be seen next in The Founder opposite Michael Keaton. He is repped by CAA.
In addition to Civil War, Olsen can be seen in the Hank Williams biopic I Saw the Light Tom Hiddleston. She is repped by Gersh and Todd Shemarya Artists.
