Jesse Metcalfe, Meghan Ory, and Virginia Madsen are set to join Dennis Haysbert in Legendary Entertainment’s DEAD RISING: WATCHTOWER. Based on the video game of the same name, the horror project centers on a freelance journalist who gets trapped inside a shopping mall in a small town that’s overrun by zombies and has to use all his limited resources to find a way to escape and learn the truth of what’s causing the horrible epidemic. The project won’t be a traditional film, though, as it will air as a 90-minute feature on the digital platform Crackle.
Metcalfe is known for his roles on popular TV series like “Desperate Housewives” and TNT’s reboot of “Dallas,” but has also appeared in “John Tucker Must Die,” Peter Hyams’s “Beyond a Reasonable Doubt,” and horror/thriller “The Tortured.” Ory is likewise known for her TV chops on series like “Higher Ground,” “Intelligence” and is currently playing Red Riding Hood on “Once Upon a Time.” This project will mark a re-teaming of Metcalfe and Ory, who also appeared in “John Tucker Must Die.”
Madsen, the veteran of the group, is known for dramas like “The Rainmaker” and “Sideways,” as well as thrillers like “The Number 23” and horror flicks like “Red Riding Hood.” Next up, Madsen will star in NBC’s zombie pilot “Babylon Fields,” Kenny Ortega’s comedy “A Change of Heart” and drama “Burning Bodhi.”
